oaxaca cheese
By Ally Wied
Oaxaca cheese is a white Mexican cheese. It's the kind of semi hard cheese, named after the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. Its flavor ranged from mild to sweet and buttery. Oaxaca cheese in the form of ball shape like is called Quesillo Oaxaca or thread cheese. When Oaxaca cheese is shaped in bricks for slicing, it's called Asadero or Queso Quesadilla.
Oaxaca cheese has an excellent melting quality. Mostly used in Mexican food: Nachos (tortilla chips covered with cheese). Some people also use Oaxaca cheese as a replacement for mozzarella cheese.
Here is one of my favorite Oaxaca cheese dip for tortilla chips. Easy but yummy!
~Prepare 2 cups Oaxaca cheese, 2 fresh chopped jalapenos (Mexican chili pepper), 1/2cup of half-and-half cream, 1/2cup of chopped onion, salt and tortilla chips.
~Heat the entire ingredient (without tortilla chips) on a saucepan using low heat. Stir the mixture constantly until the cheese is melt.
~the oaxaca cheese dip is ready to be eaten with tortilla chips.
